    2011

    Google announced the Android Update Alliance which promised updates and support for 18 months after the release of Android devices. In 2011 Motorola posted that a number devices would be updated to Ice Cream Sandwich.

    Motorola posted that a number devices would be updated to Ice Cream Sandwich.

    The update to Ice Cream Sandwich was made a selling point by carriers and Motorola Reps.


    2012

    Motorola expanded this list to even more phones.

    On September 28th 2012, the status of many of those devices were changed to say they would not be receiving the above updates

    The "Updated" time and date stamp was not changed til October 1st.

    As of November 9th 2012, the Electrify and Photon are still being sold as current phones with no mention of lacking security/os update support.

    The Photon is actually classed as "End of Life" by Sprint.

    In a number of States in the U.S. this can be considered misrepresentation at best and fraud at worst. Contact your local Attorney General's office to file a complaint.
